Standards
Editorial policy
AusBrief publishes independent journalism about Australian politics. Editorial decisions are made by the newsroom, not by advertisers or political sponsors.
Story types
- News — factual reporting based on verifiable sources and on-the-record statements.
- Analysis — informed interpretation that remains grounded in evidence.
- Opinion — clearly labelled commentary representing the author's view.
- Explainer — contextual reporting designed to clarify complex policy or process.
Sources and verification
We prefer named sources. Where anonymity is granted, editors must understand the source's identity and motive. We do not invent quotations, documents or political events.
Independence
Staff must disclose conflicts of interest. Paid political content is not accepted. Generative tools may assist research or production workflows, but published political reporting requires human editorial review.
